Active Collaborative : Leveraging Resources for Efficiency

Purpose

The Leveraging Resources for Efficiency Collaborative was launched in 2017 to help address persistent challenges in using health resources more effectively, focusing on systematic priority setting and efficiency measurement. The collaborative supports policymakers in exchanging practical strategies for evidence-based priority setting, resource allocation, efficiency measurement, and health benefits package revision.

 

Expected Outcomes

The collaborative is co-creating implementation-focused guidance that supports countries in the more efficient use of existing resources for health.

Progress

  • The collaborative launched in 2017 forming two workstreams to advance measurement of efficiency in low- and middle-income countries and evidence-based priority setting and resource allocation as key priorities
  • Policymakers shared experiences on frameworks, practices, data needs, and indicators to strengthen priority setting and efficiency measurement through four in-person meetings and numerous virtual exchanges,
  • Beginning in 2020, the collaborative began focusing on evidence-informed systematic revision of health benefits packages, engaging countries through virtual sessions, a writers’ workshop, surveys, and interviews to co-produce practical guidance on organizing systematic revision processes.
