JLN Primary Health Care Performance Management Collaborative
Unlike the other knowledge products in this collaborative’s collection, the literature review was produced by the JLN PHCPM Technical Facilitators at the outset of the Collaborative and then updated at the end. It synthesizes global evidence on PHC performance management and was designed to help collaborative participants start with a common foundation of concepts, approaches, and terminology.
The review examines the core components of effective PHC performance management, including performance indicators and targets, data systems and dashboards, accountability mechanisms, and the managerial skills needed to translate data into action. It highlights both organizational processes and the hard and soft management skills required to improve PHC service delivery and outcomes.
How this review was used: The literature review served as a foundational reference throughout the Collaborative, helping member countries build shared understanding before co-producing the other knowledge products — including the Dashboard Redesign Toolkit and the Hard Skills Capacity Building curricula.
